TL:DR 103-second update with Lacey the Untamed
Hey there Orange Nebula fam!
It’s getting super close now. Can you feel it? We can. We are absolutely aching to get this game into your hands. Seriously. Aching.
Getting the game: so where are we on that?
Here’s the short(ish) version: there were more speed bumps than a neighborhood with an elementary school, but everything has been handled swiftly. All manufacturing is complete—all of the complexities of the metal coins, miniatures, dice, wooden components, printed matter—all of it. And the containers are scheduled to be loaded onto the ships within the next 15-18 days.
We’re at the mercy of the manufacturer on that timetable but it’s a solid estimation from a reputable and very experienced outfit. We’re super happy with the product and with their professionalism and communication at every step along the way. This is the game we've all been dreaming it would be. It’s more actually.
Once the cartons are loaded onto boats they set off across the big blue, bound for fulfillment centers in Australia, Asia, Europe, Canada, and the United States. From there they’ll continue forward onto trucks/vans/bicycles/pigeons/whatever for their final journey to your door. If yours shows up on a pigeon - you’re welcome, that was incredibly expensive to arrange but we knew you’d think it was cool. And it is, very very cool. You’re worth it.
Exactly when this glorious day of game-in-hand will actually occur depends on how long things take in customs and the country you reside in. We are estimating that most copies will start shipping from fulfillment centers to backers in late-August but yours could possibly arrive in September. We’ve greased all the right palms, burnt the right offerings, and sure, done all the paperwork. The game is coming, we couldn’t stop it if we wanted to.
Until then we’re in constant communication with everyone involved, whether going over the fulfillment plan for the hundredth time or sorting the details of a revision to the packaging, we are putting everything we have into guiding this in as safely and smoothly as possible.
Part of that attention to detail is an unwavering commitment to making sure the game arrives in great condition. To that end you’ll notice some creative differences to your game packaging when it arrives: the extra-thick punchboards will be wrapped to the back exterior of the game box. To us, it looks like bonus content packaged together with the game. Keep in mind that our regular punchboards are thicker than most games' dual-layered punchboards. They're really that thick. No, really. Stop grinning.
We discovered that the lids to the boxes were sitting just a tid bit cattywampus after all the content was packed in at the factory. We engineered the Gametrayz and the box to make the best-possible use of space, meaning not a bunch of useless emptiness inflating the size of the product and taking up your precious shelf room. We wanted everything to fit with just the right amount of snuggliness once the punchboards were all punched and the pieces packed into the trayz, which meant that in unpunched brand-new copies the punchboards would ship atop the trays and cause the lid to sit a little high on the box. No biggie - a common practice.
But...what we found was that we weren’t happy with how the lids ended up sitting with this setup. There was just enough of an angle to it that we worried about damage in transit. That seemed like a risk. We’re not into that. So, we put our heads together with the factory and came up with a solution - pull the boards out, wrap the heck out of them to keep them safe, then wrap them to the back of the game box so nothing weird happens during shipping - carry on with peace of mind! Enjoy — it's just another special little moment from this campaign consistently full of them.
Thank you for your steady support throughout this process. We are continuously humbled and amazed by the community that has formed around this project and it has bolstered our resolve to deliver the absolute best possible version of this game and make sure you’re ecstatic about what you receive. We have every confidence that you will be. We can’t wait to meet more of you, talk to more of you, and (in the not to near future) hear each of your epic stories of Vindication.
Translations are complete, and the content has already been flowed into the visual guide's native InDesign files. They are awaiting final review and design edits from Marc. Then, downloads will immediately become available.
P.P.S. — New Orange Nebsite coming soon
Just what you need -- more coming soon notices for awesomeness. But hey, this one is truly for you, and our new website — it's being designed from the top down from content flow to development for you and this amazing community. Be on the lookout for this in the coming weeks.
P.P.P.S. — What's the news on the new game?
We do have some significant progress on the new game, which is a fully collaborative experience that focuses on interdependence and opportunity management. It has a large dose of “action selection” set in a progressive, bizarre and wondrous unexplored sci-fi solar system. The mechanics are pretty unique, and we feel this game's multiple environments will inspire and delight. Would you believe we're already more than a year into development on it? We are, and it's going to pay off.
To be honest, we've focused our extra time and firepower on getting Vindication details managed and the game to your door. Expect huge updates on the new game once you're spellbound by Vindication as it plays on your table.
As always, we are humbled by your support and #grateful as all getout. I'll be at GenCon with one of the advanced (finished) copies on Thursday and Friday. No booth this year, but we'll put together a brief schedule for the main play room—I'd love to meetup with you and swap secret guild handshakes.

Vindication Update #33: RELAX—All is Well

TL:DR – everything is on schedule for July.
TL:ReadAnyway
Beloved Vindicated, I'll keep this brief. We're going as fast as we can without sacrificing quality. This is what we know you want. Yes, there was a delay with the coins. Yes, we added GameTrayz to every game for free, which took a little time. We're cruising now. June is out, but we are on track for July. Based on where you live, we don't know exactly when this will arrive at your doorstep, but we'll keep you updated during every shipping / fulfillment step.
Our last update was an 11-minute video update intended to be super-transparent about where we're at and why we're doing what we're doing so that you can be a part of it all. More than a few people expressed their desire for us to simply get to the point. Cool. Kickstarter updates will be brief -- starting now. If you want all of the glorious flavor and background and thinking that is going into our decision making, sign up to get the email updates. The next one goes out tomorrow, so jump over to orangenebula.com and get in on this.
Final Manufacturing Step : GameTrayz
All of the stuff in the box is being churned out as I type. Coin issues: solved. Dice, cards, and all of that juicy wonderful-ness is dialed and in production right now.
The last piece is getting it all to fit in the large box. Here are some very raw images from the manufacturer for the incredible game tray system designed for us by GameTrayz. Noah is making some final edits to drop the miniatures cozily into the tray cavities, these will get pumped out, and then your games will be loaded onto ship for the fulfillment centers. Have a great rest of your day. You're awesome.
As ever and always, we are #grateful.

Epoch Update #31: Small Update, Big News
– Sun, Apr 01, 2018 at 01:19:33 AM
Hey Friend, I'll make it quick.
E-News
I just sent out a more detailed email to everyone signed up for Orange Nebula emails. Here's the heart of that email. If you want to make sure you're signed up, you can do that on our website: www.orangenebula.com.
Q: Where Have You Been?
A: Neck-deep in meticulous file preparation and detail management for all of your juicy stretch goals. That's where.
Production Samples: Metal Coins
After a few rounds of edits on our metal coins, they are looking phenomenal. The colors are not quite perfect yet on the Order, Fellowship, and Circle coins yet, but the quality is world-class and I'll let the images do the talking.
Production Samples: Dice
So the dice have been simplified to showcase the iconography alone, which gives us a clearer image on each face. We're still working on the marbling of the die material, getting the contrast to come out just subtle enough to look great without being distracting. These images do not have the marbling, but the final dice will. The small, burgundy, standard-sized die is 16mm pulled from Near and Far, one of the games we've been playing lately.
Production Samples: Miniatures
So, just to showcase the quality here, we've aligned Ronak, The Earth Trember with a few minis from Marc's personal favorite games list. From left to Right: Anachrony by Mindclash Games, Epoch: The Awakening, Scythe: Invaders from Afar (expansion) by Stonemaier Games, and Gloomhaven by Cephalofair Games. Below that image are the Boulder Hulk, Clan Monument, and Ronak again, from our game.
We're very happy with the detail, the hardness of the material, and the color. Rumble, rumble.
Timeline
Fact: for the first time, it looks like we're a couple of weeks behind schedule. We're already proofing final press files, but the pesky metal coins are not taking our guild colors well. We shall prevail. Fighting for the quality of the game will supersede getting it into the mail — so that nothing is rushed and details are not missed. We've gone back and forth on all of the materials to date, and we're stoked that we're getting everything we've hoped for. #fistpump
Please accept our humble thanks for being as patient as you have been.
Other Things
The email that went out tonight addresses some cool news about the Orange Nebula home base, some incredible news about Big Tom Casual, a new trait card, and a link to the probably-final version of the rulebook / visual guide.
In the meantime, know that we're buried with near-daily communication with our factory, and a swelling sense of pride and excitement for what's coming.
Speaking of which...we have a major announcement coming in the next week to 10 days regarding something substantial that we're adding to every copy of the game for free. It was an investment into the playability of the game and the reputation of our brand. It's pretty awesome. Kind of like you are.
Don't forget to vindicate.

Epoch Update #30: Final Hours of Pledge Manager -- LOCKDOWN
almost 7 years ago
– Sun, Feb 11, 2018 at 08:51:19 PM
Credit Cards Lock Down Feb 12 and Will Be Charged on Feb 14
Reminder: if you've already locked in your credit card information and your proper mailing address (the one you'll have in May) you should be good to go. It's probably a good idea to check to make sure you've added the component upgrades if you're interested in those.
We'll mention this in our email update later today, but we're now into Chinese New Year, and the manufacturing is encountering our planned-for slowdown. Everything's going well, and we are still on track.
Eager? Us too. Believe me. Keep in mind that our priority is quality first, ship-date second. What that means is that if we require more time to make something right, we'll opt for quality over speed, but we're not anticipating any adjustment to our May shipping estimate.
All of the dice, miniatures, and metal coins have been in pre-production and we've been meticulous about the process. We've been working with a seasoned engineer to design our component nerd-tray, and I hope to have more details on this shortly. #batedbreath
A Few More Updates
We've got a peek at another card and player tile going out in the email blast in a few hours. If you're not already on the email list, sign up at orangenebula.com and get occasional updates. In the meantime, here's a card that's not included in the email update:
